Local pastor offers NFL QB Tim Tebow a job at church

Posted:

He is one of the most well known athletes in the country, but so far Tim Tebow has had some trouble finding a NFL team to sign him this off-season. However, one local church says not to worry because if nothing shakes out they have a job opening for the former Heisman winner.

Watervliet, MI is over 100 miles away from the closest NFL stadium. Even though it does not have the glitz and the glam of any pro-football city Pastor Kevin Hester, from the Sanctuary Baptist Church, says it is the perfect place for Tebow to find a job.

"I know there's not a lot of NFL offers for him," said Pastor Hester. "But we'd like to extend an offer for him to come here and be our youth pastor."

Pastor Hester hopes to ask the quarterback about joining the church this Thursday, when Tebow visits Benton Harbor for a speaking engagement.

Hester has been a fan of Tebow's since the quarterback's freshman year at Florida. He says while he knows he could not not offer the NFL free-agent a lot of money to come live in Michigan, he believes Tebow's strong faith might be enough of a selling point for a new career as a pastor.

"We appreciate Tim Tebow's ministry and how he's outspoken about his beliefs and we want to be a part of that," said Pastor Hester.

Hester's not the only one who'd like to see Tebow come to the small town. Kids in the church's youth group say Tebow would be the perfect person to lead their lessons.

"It will attract more people and just get our church more guests and visitors to help spread the word of god," said Sabrina Zehner, who's in the church's youth group.

Pastor Hester knows it's a long shot that the star quarterback would take his talents to Watervliet, but he cites one of his favorite bible verses, James 4:2, which says "You have not, because you ask not."

"He doesn't need us to be a spring board," said Hester. "Obviously he's got a great name and recognition, but we believe that [Tebow] believes that whatever he can do to advance God's kingdom, he's a part of that."

Tim Tebow's agency and foundation chose not to comment on the Sanctuary's request.

Hester has tried to reach out to Tebow in the past as well to come speak at his church. He has mailed him information on the church before and tweeted to Tebow, but the most he's ever heard back was a thank you letter from foundation.

With Tebow just miles away from his church this Thursday, he knows that could be the best chance to ask that he will ever have.

Make a statement with the Summer 2014 hair and makeup trends

Makeup at the Summer 2014 fashion shows wasn't what you'd normally expect. Usually models sport bold eye-shadows, thick black eyeliner, and bronzed sun-kissed skin. This year... makeup and hair made a statement on the runway with what they're calling the "Raw Beauty" look. The summer look is a subtle one - milky golds, ivories, and pale hues for eye shadows. It's almost that look of not even looking like you have makeup on. When it comes to hair, the look is called "effortless elegance", whe...More >>
