Suspect arrested in Benton Harbor shooting from April

Posted:

Benton Harbor police have arrested a suspect in a shooting from mid-April.  Back on April 12 police say Shalathel Kelly and another person were leaving a store on Pipestone St. when a person with a gun approached their vehicle.

The gunman reportedly started firing his handgun at the people in the car.  Kelly and his passenger drove off, hitting another vehicle in the process, and went to an area hospital.  Kelly was treated for three gun-shot wounds and released.

Thanks to a description of the gunman from the victim and witness, and some other tips, police were able to identify a suspect.  Benton Harbor Police arrested 26-year-old Jamaal Roseburgh of Benton Harbor.

Roseburgh is facing two counts of Assault with Intent to Murder, one of Possession of a Firearm By a Felon, and one Felony Firearms charge.  Roseburgh was on parole for a 2011 drug conviction.  He is now being held in the Berrien County Jail on $250,000 bond.
