Blood drive held to raise awareness for cancer patients

The South Bend Medical Foundation needs you to roll up your sleeve and give blood.

The foundation partnered with Michiana Hematology Oncology to hold a blood drive today.

This partnership is trying to spread the awareness of the importance of giving blood to cancer patients-- since many rely on blood donations as part of their treatment.

Laura Broadstreet of the South Bend Medical Foundation says, "There's more of a need in the summer for two reasons. People are more active but also people are on vacations so donations slow down."

If you donate during the month of May, you will get a 10 dollar gas card.
