Police looking for suspect in Cass County hit and run accident

Michigan State Police are asking for your help to solve a hit and run accident in Cass County.

We're told it happened around 6:20 p.m. Sunday near the corner of Bell Street and U.S. 12, which is in Milton Township, just southeast of the Niles city limits. Police say a car traveling east on U.S. 12 was hit by someone who failed to yield while trying to turn onto Bell Street.

The victim's car rolled over twice and the people inside received only minor injuries. However, police say it could have been much worse if those people were not wearing seat belts and using a child restraint system.

The suspect took off. He is described as a 45-year-old white man. His vehicle is a red extended cab pickup truck with silver trim, although witnesses could not identify the make and model. The suspect was last seen heading east on Worrell Street, which is just north of the accident.

If you have any information on this accident you're asked to call Michigan State Police at (269) 683-4411.
