Police reopen nearly 30-year-old murder case of Elkhart woman

Posted:

Police in Elkhart and Cass Counties are reexamining an unsolved murder investigation from 1985.  Ada Haradine disappeared from her home on Crabtree Lane in Elkhart on May 8, 1985.  Her body was found three years later just north of Union Michigan in Cass County.

Authorities say Ada was last seen working around the yard shortly after 3:00pm.  Another witness thought he seen her talking to a man near the house but when her son got off the school bus around 3:20 PM she was not waiting for him, like she normally did.  It didn't look to police that anyone broke into the home, and there were no signs of a struggle.

Police have resubmitted evidence from the case to the Michigan State Police Crime Laboratory for examination using modern technology.

Investigators are asking anyone with information concerning the death of Ada Haradine to contact Crime Stoppers at (574) 288-STOP or 1-800-342-Stop.  Other points of contact will be Detective Kristen Daly of the Cass County Sheriff's Office at (269) 445-1244 or Investigator Dave Gizzi at the Elkhart County Prosecutor's Office at (574) 296-1897.
