Stay safe for Bike to Work Week

If you are planning on riding your bike to work this week it's important to stay safe.

Remember bikes must follow the rules of the road just like other vehicles.
Never ride against traffic and always remember to follow the lane markings.

"At the same time all bicyclists have gotta follow all the rules and the laws of the road, they're not any different than a person in a car,  so they have to stop at stop lights, they have to stop at stop signs, they've gotta follow the same laws that motorists do," says J.V. Peacock with Outpost Sports.

Special events are set up over the next several days to commemorate bike to work week, including an organic blueberry pancake breakfast.

Bicyclists will gather between 7 and 9am and have a free breakfast in front of LaSalle Grill in downtown South Bend Tuesday.

Mayor Pete Buttigieg will greet the group.

This is one of the most popular events of Bike to  Work week.
