Students raise money for playground through learning

Some elementary school students are raising money by reading, writing, and moving.  Concord Southside Elementary is raising money to update their playground.

They aren't just doing a regular fundraiser, though.  The school is using it as an opportunity to have students meet some educational goals along the way.

Several community leaders are helping in the effort.  County Prosecutor Curtis Hill stopped by to read with some students and the Elkhart County K-9 unit showed off their skills.

"We're hoping to get some more playground equipment, more balls, get another swing that reclines for our students with limited mobility. And the kids have a wish list of things." said PTO President Kris Gingerich.  The school's goal is to raise $4,500.
