Syracuse elementary students hold cancer-fighting Walk-a-Thon

Students at one Kosciusko County elementary school aren't letting their young age get in the way of helping to fight cancer.  Syracuse Elementary hosted their first ever Relay for Life Walk-a-Thon on Thursday.

Syracuse had sold paper feet to help raise money for the Relay for Life effort, but organizer and 4th grade teacher Kim Jones says she wanted to find a way to get the kids more actively involved.

The elementary kids are too young to be part of the standard overnight Relay events, so the school put together their own Walk-a-Thon to go on during school hours.  At last count, the event had raised more than $9,000.
