Spitting becomes popular in Downtown South Bend

The South Bend Chocolate Company held the first malted milk ball spitting contest Friday.  The event happened outside the store, with the farthest spit winning the grand prize, a years supply of milk balls.

The Owner of the South Bend Chocolate Company, Mark Tarner, thought this would be a fun way to celebrate the great American milk ball.  "People spit on the sidewalks, but that isn't what this is about," Tarner said, "this is the worlds first annual chocolate malted milk ball spitting contest."

With the success of the event, the South Bend Chocolate Company plans on making this an annual tradition.  Milk balls were also fifty percent off, in honor of the event.
