"Lest We Forget" organization holds WWII remembrance events

A political organization focused on promoting patriotism throughout Michiana is holding special events this weekend to remember World War II.

"Lest We Forget" is a group of veterans and non-veterans that have the motto of "brightening the future by illuminating the past."

Today, the group held a military vehicle parade featuring a 1945 Water Buffalo Amphibian Tractor.

The president and founder of the organization, Don Alsbro says that it's important to educate young people about history.

Alsbro says, "You know the old saying, but it's true- Freedom isn't Free."

The events continue into the weekend at Southwest Michigan Regional Airport.

On Saturday, there will be Ground Battles at 11am and 3pm, a VN Demo at 2pm, and a Hangar Dance at 8pm. On Sunday, there will be a Ground Battle at 1pm. Both days, the airport will be open at 8 am, with WWII encampment displays and aircraft displays.
