Golfers scramble for charity

Even though the economy is showing some signs of improvement, the Food Bank still needs help to feed those in need. So they invited some golfers to help get the word out.

The third annual Hunger Scramble was at Knollwood Country Club Friday.

Players could hit the greens then enjoy a dinner, awards ceremony and a silent auction.

The event is a way to help raise money for the Food Bank of Northern Indiana's mobile food pantry.

And FOX28's Dean Huppert and Allison Hayes helped in the effort.

"Hunger is a year round problem in Northern Indiana," said the Food Bank of Northern Indiana's Director of Community Impact Marijo Martinec. "It doesn't happen during the holidays its highlighted during the month of May because of our stamp out hunger food drive. This is a way to reinforce the message that hunger happens year round."

If you were not able to play today, you can still help by volunteering to sort through the items collected for Stamp Out Hunger.
