Graduation brings big business to South Bend

Posted:

Business is Booming in South Bend.  The graduation crowd is bringing in extra customers and extra cash.

Eddy Street Businesses tell us that they're even doing better this graduation weekend compared to last year.  The Manager at The Mark said their business this weekend is triple what it was for graduation in 2012.

They started taking reservations 6 months ago.  And they had to do a lot of work to prepare for this busy time.  "We had to order about 35 more chairs, more silverware, everything, so everything is taken into consideration," said Jordan Mullins, Manager at The Mark.

The Mark is completely booked for Sunday, which the Mullins tells us is rare on a Sunday night.

And over at Bigby Coffee, the owner said their cup count is up quite a bit from last year as well.  Businesses say graduation weekend is great for their bottom line but they're also happy just about the bustling atmosphere.  "It's just so exciting for Eddy Street Commons to be full of activity," said Kathleen Baginske, Owner-Operator of Bigby Coffee.

Businesses also tell us they are expecting to be pretty busy again in just a couple weeks for Alumni weekend.
