Thousands walk in Mishawaka and South Bend Relay for Life

Mishawaka and South Bend Relay for Life started Saturday morning.  About 2,000 people are participating in the event.  And there will be someone walking on the Mishawaka High School track at all times for 24 hours.

It all raises money for cancer research.  But more than that organizers said it's about honoring those who have passed away from cancer and those who are still fighting it.  "I realized this year that over the years there were 14 people that have passed just on my own so that's why we're all here," said Jessica Signorino with Relay for Life.

FOX28 is a proud sponsor of the event.  We have a tent set up at the track that you can visit.
