Update: No injuries reported at Rochester scrap metal processing center fire

UPDATE: Fire Crews say something was dropped into a pile of recycled material while it was still hot.

Seven fire departments were called to battle the flames. No injuries were reported.

Fulton County EMA and Cass County EMA were there with an air monitor system and precautionary evacuations took place due to air quality concerns.

Crews stayed at the fire until it was completely put out.

 


 

UPDATE: A FOX28 crew at the scene says the scrap yard is still blocked off.

An employee tells us trash caught on fire.

 The fire quickly got out of control due to strong winds so fire crews were called in.

We're still waiting on information from officials.


Crews are on the scene of a fire at a scrap metal processing center in Rochester.

Eight fire departments are fighting the blaze at Rochester Iron & Metal Inc. along with multiple other emergency responders.

No word yet on whether there are any injuries.  FOX28 News has a crew on the way.  We'll update you as soon as more information becomes available.
