Former FOX28 Meteorologist Ken Garcia updates OK recovery efforts

Posted:

Former FOX28 Meteorologist Ken Garcia updated us on the recovery efforts in Oklahoma Tuesday.  Ken is now working as a spokesperson for the American Red Cross in the region.  He spent part of Tuesday in Moore.

Ken shared pictures he took of the devastation at the Moore Medical Center.  "It's just a big shell right now.  All of the windows were smashed out," he says.  "The cars in the parking lot, they look like they were just toys that were tossed around.  Across the street from there is a small street.  Those homes are just absolutely destroyed.  There's a lot of work that's going to be involved with this."

Ken says the Red Cross put about 1,000 volunteers through emergency orientation.  He say the Red Cross is also handing out supplies and providing shelter.  He says the best thing you can do to help from here in Michiana is to donate money.

Text REDCROSS to 90999 to give $10 to American Red Cross Disaster Relief.
