Area bank employees spend day making a difference

Posted:

Northern Indiana bank employees hit the streets on Wednesday and joined others across the country for some charitable work.  Employees at KeyBanks took part in the company's 23rd Annual Neighbors Make the Difference Day.

In our community, more than 120 KeyBank employees left work at noon, and were paid to do what is normally volunteer work.  Participants spent the day helping with a variety of projects.

In South Bend, volunteers helped build a home with Habitat for Humanity.  Others headed to the Osolo Little League field in Elkhart where they cleaned up and painted.  At the Wellfield Botanic Gardens in Elkhart, the group mulched, planted, and helped with other landscaping efforts.

More than 8,000 employees participated nationwide in the Neighbors Make the Difference Day.
