Remembering Rose and Pat Perri

Posted:

The Mishawaka Community is mourning the loss of a well known couple.  Rose Perri passed away earlier this month after a tough battle with cancer.  Her husband Pat Perri died Thursday morning.

The beloved couple started running Rose and Pat's Colonial Pub back in 1969.  The popular bar and restaurant hosted regulars along with celebrities from Bob Hope to Notre Dame legends like Ara Parseghian and Dan Devine.

Rose and Pat sold the pub to current owner Maury Cocquit in 1990.  He changed the name to Maury's Pub, but kept much of the same Notre Dame charm and community spirit.  Maury says he tries to live up to Pat's legacy.  You can still see the original name on the window.

"Pat was just a real spark-plug anywhere that he went.  From the homemade clocks and different schedules that he did and handed out to people to his original regulars had all their cups with their names on them in little leather cup holders to put their glass in through the day," Cocquit says.

Rose and Pat moved to Henderson Nevada after they sold the place.  They had 11 children, 23 grandchildren and countless happy customers that still live in the Michiana area.
