Stevensville man accused of lighting parents on fire

A Stevensville man is facing an arson charge after, police say, he set his mother and step-father on fire.

The victims, Scott and Diane Shriner, told police that their son came home late Thursday night upset about an argument with his girlfriend.  They said he wanted to get back to his girlfriends house.  When they refused to take him, the son reportedly grabbed a tank of gasoline and started splashing it in their bedroom.  Scott Shriner tried to stop him, but he says his stepson pulled out a lighter and lit the room on fire.

All three people were taken to area hospitals with 1st and 2nd degree burns.  As of this writing, Scott Shriner was still in the hospital, but he was stable.  Diane Shriner was treated and released.  The suspect is being held at the Berrien County Jail on an arson charge.  He is expected to be arraigned Friday afternoon.
