A North Webster man is behind bars after police say he falsely accused a police officer of murder.

Police say, in May, 32-year-old Michael Wiggins accused Officer David May of driving his squad car to Tennessee, abducting a woman, murdering her, and burying the body on a Kosciusko County farm.  Wiggins' accusation came just eight days after Wiggins was charged with Operating While Intoxicated, and arrested by Officer May.

Police investigated the accusation and found that May was on duty taking calls on the day he was accused of going to Tennessee.  A check of his squad car's mileage showed he could not have driven to Tennessee in the vehicle.

Wiggins was arrested Monday on charges of Obstruction of Justice and Felony False Informing.  He is currently being held in the Kosciusko County Jail on $100,000 bond.
