Man charged in drug deal leading to teen's death

Tyree Justin "TJ" Scott was charged Friday in the February 2012 shooting death of Christopher Simril, 18. Simril was shot multiple times in the head after a drug deal turned into a botched attempted robbery.

Police report that Scott and friends were meeting Simril in the Rum Park in South Bend in order to purchase marijuana. The group also intended to rob Simril according to sources within the group.

Simril was shot multiple times in the head when he was confronted by the group. The suspects fled the scene on foot. Members of the suspect's friend group came forward and identified the suspect, as well as providing information on the crime.

Scott has been charged with murder and is being held without bond.
