South Bend holds second anti-violence meeting

South Bend's Anti-Violence Commission held their second meeting on Tuesday.  The featured speaker was Chris Mallette of The City University of New York's John Jay College of Criminal Justice.  He spoke about the benefits of ongoing communication between city agencies, followed by a question and answer session.

South Bend Mayor, Pete Buttigieg, said this commission needs to stay focused on solving one problem, reducing gun violence in South Bend.  "We have invited a guest speaker today," Buttigieg said, "somebody who has a lot of knowledge about approaches that have worked in other cities and now cities like South Bend, cities like Chicago that do not want to have another year like last year, are turning to some of these examples, some of this evidence based approach, to improve on how we do things."

The commission broke off into groups after the meeting to answer questions pertaining to their certain field.
