Summerfest returns to Mishawaka

Posted:

A Mishawaka tradition returns this weekend.

Summerfest 2013 kicks off Friday for two days of fun.  The annual event features food, crafts, music and more. In honor of the 30th anniversary, the summerfest will focus on 30 attractions and activities, including entertainment from local musicians, great food and activities for kids.

For the kids there will be an interactive boot camp, inflatables, pony rides and more.  Pig races will return, this year featuring celebrity pigs.

Historical cars will be also showcased at the event.  Speaking of history, bus tours will be offered highlighting historic buildings and locations.

Terry Zeller, Superintendent, Mishawaka Parks & Recreation said, "It's free to come down. All of the games and the kids boot camp are free. The only thing that cost money are the pony rides, but the pig races are free to everybody, so we try to make it as free as possible."

Back by popular demand will be a fireworks show, that will take place both nights.  It all starts at noon on Friday at Merrifield and Crawford Park in Mishawaka.
