Tips for staying cool with no power

It's going to be a hot week and many people in Michiana may not have power until early Friday morning.

The Elkhart County Chapter of The American Red Cross offered safety tips for staying cool without power:

--Stay hydrated with plenty of water, avoid caffeine and alcoholic beverages.

--Wear lightweight and light-colored clothing.

--Eat small frequent meals to keep you energized.

--If possible, go to a place during the warmest part of the day that has power, like a public library, to stay cool.

--Always check on any elderly family members to make sure they're ok.
