Vigil held for slain Elkhart teen

An emotional thank you set the scene for a memorial held Thursday for slain Elkhart teen Braxton Barhams.

Jeanette Dancler, Braxton's Mom spoke to the mourners gathered.

"I want to thank all of you for being here. It makes me feel so wonderful. It takes away a lot of the pain."

It was held at Concord High School.

The 16 -year-old was shot to death Saturday on West Garfield. Friends, family and members of the community gathered to remember the teenager.

Michelle Johnsen attended the vigil and said, "I was thinking that could have been my daughter and I can't have that. I don't want that to happen so if I can do anything to prevent it from happening in the future, I'm going to do it."

People were also selling things to help raise money for the teen's funeral.
