Pence to appear in South Bend less than a week after controversy

Posted:

Indiana Governor Mike Pence will be spending a couple of days in Michiana following a controversy regarding his Facebook page.

Pence will make his way to Northern Indiana on Tuesday, with a stop at Peru's Grissom Air Force Reserve Base on the way, in which the governor will speak with troops. He will end up at the St. Joseph County 4-H Fairgrounds around 6:30 p.m.

South Bend Mayor Pete Buttigieg's office reports that he will join Pence on Wednesday morning for a fitness walk that begins at Seitz Park and will run from 8:30 to 9:30.

Last week Pence was criticized when some dissenting comments, regarding his views on same sex marriage and the Supreme Court's decision on the Defense of Marriage Act, were deleted. That is contrary to his page's policy that all inflammatory or vulgar comments would be deleted.

"After careful review it was determined that that was not the case," Pence told FOX 59 in Indianapolis. "I regret the comments were removed and felt it was important to apologize."
