Boys and Girls Club helps prepare site for On The River

Posted:

Around 50 kids from the Boys and Girls Club and the On The River Teen Committee were on site Wednesday morning, helping get ready for this years On The River event.  On The River is a weekend long beach party, in downtown South Bend, with all the proceeds benefiting the South Bend Center For The Homeless.  The kids were pulling weeds, removing rocks, and grooming the sand so a fresh layer can be placed on top.

Teen Committee CoChair, Meghan Hickey, is excited to help transform the site into a beach.  "We are pulling weeds, working on the sand," Hickey said, "pretty much making a beach paradise."

Boys and Girls Club member Bryanna McFadden is happy to get to work with her friends and support a good cause.  "This is actually my first year doing this," McFadden said, "and we are doing this for community service and also to give back to The Center For The Homeless and also to give back to our community."

All of the kids who participated in the clean up will receive a free ticket to On The River Teen Night or Family day.  On The River takes place August 2nd and 3rd.  For more information, visit On The River 2013.  FOX28 is a proud sponsor for On The River.
