After spending six years as the lead dog at Butler, head coach Brad Stevens is moving onto the big show of the NBA.

According to Celtics.com, Stevens has signed a contract to take over as the head coach of the Boston Celtics. The Celtics had been searching for a head coach since they traded former head coach Doc Rivers to Los Angeles Clippers for a future first round draft choice.

Over his tenure with the school Stevens took the Bulldogs to back to back National Championship game appearances. Stevens also produced the school's first NBA players in over 30 years (Gordon Hayward and Shelvin Mack).

"Brad and I share a lot of the same values," said Celtics President of Basketball Operations Danny Ainge, told the team website. "Though he is young, I see Brad as a great leader who leads with impeccable character and a strong work ethic. His teams always play hard and execute on both ends of the court. Brad is a coach who has already enjoyed lots of success, and I look forward to working with him towards Banner 18."

The 36-year-old Stevens won at least 22 games per season as the team's head coach. The terms of his contract have not been released.

According to the Celtics, Stevens and his wife Tracy, along with their children Brady and Kinsley, will be introduced to the media at 11 a.m. on Friday at the Celtics Training Center at Healthpoint.
