Two Michiana riders prepare for first pro-motocross races at RedBud National

There will be plenty of great firework shows this week, but one of the most exciting things to watch in Michiana has nothing to do with the 4th of July.

Some of the best pro-motocross drivers in the world are already in Buchanan, MI for this year's Red Bull RedBud National.

"[This is so exciting] this is RedBud! I live 20 minutes away. I'm pumped for my pro debut here at RedBud, so I'm very excited to here," said pro-motocross driver Dillon Finley, who is from Edwardsburg, MI. "The track is super sweet. It gets rough, has deep ruts, super sandy. It's a fun track."

Finley is just one of two Michiana kids who are racing in their first pro races ever. Austin Wagner, from Niles, MI, is also making the jump from amateur to pro rider.

"It means a lot to me," said Wagner. "I've been waiting to turn pro for along as I can remember. My mom and dad have been pro, my brother, my uncle. This is a dream come true."

One of the top former riders is also going to be at this weekends races to take in the action. Ricky Carmichael, who is one of the winningest motocross drivers of all time, says he still remembers his first pro races and is offering the Michiana locals some advice.

"I think for the local kids that are getting their feet wet this weekend its important for them to get laps," said Carmichael. "Just log laps, get experience, see how much different it is at this level then what they were racing at their point in their careers. That's what it's about. Not coming out and trying to make something happen that isn't possible. I wish them the best. They'll be fine. It always helps having your first race as your home race."

Pro races start Saturday morning at 8:30 at the RedBud course. More information on the race can be found on the RedBud MX Official Website.
