Elkhart Co. announcing new crime reduction plans

Elkhart County is unveiling a new crime reduction initiative on Monday.  To help spread the word, the Sheriff's Department will be holding meetings throughout the area.  Below is a list of each of the public meetings.  The meetings are organized for residents of specific townships.

Sheriff Brad Rogers will also be holding a news conference at 9:00am on Monday.  Check back here on FOX28.com or tune in to FOX28 News at 10 on Monday for more on the initiative.

    Fatal motorcycle accident on US 20 in Elkhart

    A 42 year old Elkhart man was pronounced dead at the scene of a motorcycle accident Sunday just before 11 AM. The motorcycle driver was driving his Harley Davidson eastbound on US 20, when he crossed the center line near CO RD 13. He collided with a vehicle traveling west.Police reports say witnesses suggested the man may have been driving around 70-80 miles per hour. He was found not wearing a helmet.     South Bend Police are reporting of a shooting at the 2400 block of W. Fredrickson Street. The police say no one was shot but shots were fired. The incident is under investigation.
