St. Joseph man charged with breaking into doctors office

Police have a St. Joseph, Michigan man in custody after he apparently smashed his way through a doctor's office door late Monday night.

Witnesses told police a man jumped out of a stopped vehicle, around 11:00pm, and ran directly into the front door of the office on Cleveland Ave. in Lincoln Township.  The vehicle then reportedly drove off.

A Physician's Assistant working in the office heard breaking glass, yelling, and other smashing sounds.  She hid under a desk and called 911.

After a brief struggle, police were able to take the 28-year-old man into custody.  He was taken to an area hospital for injuries he apparently suffered breaking through the door.  He is currently being held in the Berrien County Jail on charges of Breaking & Entering, Resisting Arrest, and Damage to Property.
