Passing thunderstorms cause power outages

Posted:

UPDATE: As of 6:30 Tuesday evening, the number of outages in St. Joseph county had decreased. About 800 customers are out in the South Bend area. 249 customers near Ireland road in Mishawaka are still out. Estimated restoration time is 10pm because of a down distribution line.

There are currently 668 customers out in Three Rivers, Michigan (majority are Eagle Lake). Estimated time of restoration is unknown at this time. Crews are working in this area.

A tree on wire caused an outage for 261 customers in Buchanan. 180 of those are near Barron Lake Road. Estimated time is 8pm. 144 are out near Buchanan hydro. Estimated time and cause unknown.

Some passing thunderstorms caused power outages around Michiana Tuesday afternoon.

Erica Putt, spokeswoman for Indiana Michigan Power, tells FOX28 that around 900 customers are without power in St. Joseph County.

Crews are already at the scene in Granger, where about 373 customers are without power. A tree hit a power line and cross arm, causing them to be torn down. The estimated restoration time is around 7 tonight.

Crews are on their way to the Ireland Road area, where around 300 customers are out, and the Cleveland road area, where about 100 customers are without power.
