Neighbors hope to give Kennedy Park a facelift

A South Bend neighborhood is working to make a local park more family friendly. Neighbors gathered at Kennedy Park Saturday to kick off their revitalization campaign.

To celebrate the revitalization a cook out was held and kids painted trash cans for the park. The area is currently just open land, but neighbors want to put in a playground, walking paths, and pavilions.

The goal is to make a safe place for kids to hang out.

Rhonda Neal who is working towards for Kennedy Park revitalization said, "I think it's important for every child to have a safe place to go to run, jump, swing freely."

Neighbors hope in the next few years there will be major improvements to the park.
