Notre Dame football team bowls for cancer research

The Notre Dame Football team traded in the pads for bowling balls Sunday to raise money for charity.
The Irish created a chapter of Uplifting Athletes, an organization that helps fight rare diseases through the sport of football.

"With great power comes great responsibility," Linebacker Joe Schmidt said.  He went on to say that the ND football players are on an elevated platform that gives them the opportunity to do great things.

Schmidt organized the event to raise money to fight Osteosarcoma, a rare cancer.
For $100, fans got to bowl with the Irish...or just clown around.
8 year old Erin Gregiore says she and her little brother had a lot of fun because when they played well, they would get high fives.
While the event was for charity... it was also about having fun...and Torii Hunter, Jr and Jaylon Smith made it a little healthy competition as well.
While some of the guys were natural bowlers...others may want to stick to football.
No matter how well ... or bad they bowled, it was all for a good cause.
