Suspected home invader arrested in Dowagiac

Posted:

Police are investigating an assault and possible home invasion in Dowagiac over the weekend.  Dowagiac police were called out to a home on the 600 block of Spruce St. late Saturday night.

The homeowner told them that a "former acquaintance" got into a fight with her.  The man managed to make it into the house and get a large knife from the kitchen.

A third person had been in the home, but that person reportedly fled when the man threatened the person with the knife.  The homeowner eventually managed to get the invader to leave without injuring anyone.

The suspected home invader returned to house while police were still on the scene and was taken into custody.  Police have not released the name of the suspect, pending arraignment.

Police are continuing to investigate.  Anyone with information is asked to contact the Dowagiac Police Department at 269-782-9743.
