Frontier Airlines leaving South Bend Airport

If you're looking to head to Denver from South Bend, you should plan to do it before September 10.  Frontier Airlines has announced they will cease flights out of South Bend Regional Airport at that time.

Frontier had been running the flights since October of last year.  "When we began service to Denver, the data showed that we should have been able to get travelers to start their westward flights locally from SBN instead of driving to other larger airports," said Mike Daigle, SBN's Executive Director. "Unfortunately, although nonstop traffic to Denver did increase, Frontier was not able to remain profitable on this route."

Frontier has four weekly flights out of South Bend right now.  They normally fill about 80% of their seats.

South Bend Regional Airport says they are meeting with other airlines to add new destinations to their list.  Currently, South Bend Airport offers nonstop flights to nine other cities: Atlanta, Chicago, Detroit, Fort Myers/Punta Gorda, Las Vegas, Minneapolis, Orlando/Sanford, Phoenix/Mesa, and Tampa Bay/St. Petersburg.
