Students rock out for charity

Posted:

St. Joseph High School Students donated $1,100 they raised with Caug-stock concert to the Food Bank of Northern Indiana, Wednesday. What started as a concert for charity that students thought they'd hold in someone's backyard grew to eight bands performing at the Niles Riverfront Amphitheater.

The students put it together after they had to cancel the school's Battle of the Bands because  there just weren't enough bands to play in that.

The students still wanted to do something to raise money for charity and did they ever. The food bank was pretty surprised at the amount raised.

Milt Lee, Executive Director of the Food Bank of Northern Indiana said, "They did surprise me. Eleven hundred dollars that's nearly 11,000 pounds of food. That means fifty families will eat for two weeks."

The music festival will continue under a new name going by the name the Caug Music Festival.
