A collision between an SUV and a car in a heavy downpour has killed an eastern Indiana couple.
Henry County sheriff's deputies say the crash Saturday on U.S. 35 about 50 miles northeast of Indianapolis killed the driver of the car, 48-year-old Claude Hicks of Lynn, and his wife, 52-year-old Rhonda Jo Hicks.
Three other passengers in Hicks' car - their son, Joseph Hicks, and his children, a 9-year-old girl and a 3-year-old boy - also were injured and remained hospitalized Sunday.
Deputies say an SUV driven by 59-year-old John Petry of Kettering, Ohio, hydroplaned into the path of the car. Petry was treated at a hospital. His wife, 57-year-old Cheryl Petry, remained hospitalized Sunday.
Sheriff Bruce Baker says the road is treacherous.
