When the Fighting Irish take the field for their first practice of the 2013 season, they won't be in the shadow of the Golden Dome.
Notre Dame announced Thursday the football team will start practices August 5 at Shiloh Park Retreat in Marion. The team will go through their acclimatization portion of training camp during four practices at the site.
"This is something we've been talking about for a couple of years now," Head Coach Brian Kelly said in a video posted on UND.com. Coach Kelly says he had a similar off-site program for training camp during his time at the University of Cincinnati, something he says played a huge role in the success of the team.
Notre Dame will return to campus for practices on August 9.
