Serb Fest to take place Saturday in South Bend

Posted:

On St. Patrick's Day, people become Irish for the day. On Saturday, people will become Serbian for the day.

Saints Peter & Paul church is celebrating the 20th anniversary of their Serb Fest tomorrow. They began preparations on all of the delicious homemade ethnic foods today.

They will have a Chicago band playing Serbian tunes, games and rides for the kids. There's no admission and parking is a donation to the food bank.

The church is celebrating it's 102nd anniversary.

The long standing tradition is a fundraiser for the church and that's not all.

Christiaan Corthier, in charge of communications for Serb Festival said, "For people in the Michiana area to learn about our heritage, whether it's tasting our food, doing an ethnic dance or even going up to the church, because we offer church tours because our churches are a little bit different.  It's like stepping back in time and when step into one of our churches."

Serb fest is Saturday from 4:00 pm to 11:00 pm and is at the Sts. Peter& Paul banquet hall and picnic grounds on Keria Trail in South Bend.
