Teacher accused of sending inappropriate texts pleads guilty

The former teacher accused of inappropriately contacting a former student pled guilty Tuesday.  Eric West, 31, of Osceola was charged with the misdemeanor in October of last year.

The prosecutors office says West texted with a 12-year-old in the summer of 2012.  An attorney with the Special Victims Unit said in an affidavit that the texts on July 12, 2012 were of a sexual nature.  Other texts are also believed to have been made, but were deleted before authorities got to the student's phone.  West had been a 5th grade teacher at Walt Disney Elementary School at the time.

Sentencing is scheduled for August 20.
