Firefighters killed in Phoenix wildfire honored locally

Two Michiana communities honored the members of the Granite Mountain Hotshots who lost 19 members while battling a blaze in Phoenix earlier this summer, and all service personnel who have died in the line of duty.

Services were held at Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center locations in Mishawaka and Plymouth on Tuesday.

Mishawaka Fire Chief Dale Freeman says it is important to recognize the sacrifice of firefighters across the country because, "A firefighter is a firefighter is a firefighter... We feel their pain.  We feel their loss."

Local firefighters and city officials were in attendance.
