Northern Indiana cities set marks for July days below 80

The northern Indiana cities of South Bend and Fort Wayne have set records for consecutive days in July where the high temperature didn't reach 80 degrees.

The National Weather Service reports South Bend didn't hit 80 for the last nine days of the month. That breaks a record of 8 straight July days without the temperature reaching 80 set twice previously - in 1918 and 1992.

Fort Wayne didn't reach 80 for the final eight days of July. That tied a record set in 1924 and matched in 2004.

Indianapolis, Lafayette and Bloomington also failed to reach 80 the final eight days of July, while Muncie didn't reach that mark for the final five days of July. Temperatures hit 81 in Evansville and Terre Haute on Thursday.
