Teenager rescued at Warren Dunes State Park

A 15-year-old boy was rescued from Lake Michigan at Warren Dunes State Park, Thursday. The boy began to struggle in the water, past the swimming buoys, at around 2:00pm.

An officer swam to the boy and offered him assistance, along with two other people. Once closer to shore, a park officer and former lifeguard assisted in the rescue.

The boy recounted that he went under the water several times and began struggling to stay afloat.

Chief Todd Taylor, with Chikaming Township Police Department, said there have been several people throughout the county rescued because of dangerous water conditions.
