Hundreds show up to church for back pack giveaway

Posted:

Osceola Grace Brethren Church held a back to school bash in their parking lot Sunday.  They gave away 250 backpacks and school supplies.  They also had a carnival like atmosphere with free food and activities.

This is the third year for the event and it just keeps getting bigger.  Event organizers tell us people were lined up an hour before the bash started to get the free back packs.  The 250 backpacks were gone in just 40 minutes.  Pastor Greg Serafine said, "It tells me there's a very real need out there for helping out in a lot of ways.  It's an economic down time right now."

Serafine said there's enough of a need out there that if the church had the resources to give out 400 backpacks they would still all be gone quickly.
