An engineering immersion program in the Columbus area is expanding after its first year.
The Advanced Manufacturing & Engineering Immersion program was introduced last year at Columbus Signature Academy New Tech High School. A third of all girls who participated in the program now say they never would have considered careers in engineering if it weren't for the pilot program.
Based on its success, the program has been expanded to Bartholomew Consolidated Schools' other high schools: Columbus East and Columbus North.
Student Eden McCleary says she always loved math and science but might not be studying engineering if not for the program.
