Harrison Street in Elkhart changing from one-way to two-way Monday

Posted:

As the city of South Bend looks at changing some downtown streets from one-way to two-way, the city of Elkhart is changing one of its streets to two-way on Monday.

The mayor's office says Harrison Street between Main and 3rd in Elkhart will be switched over at 8:30 a.m. Monday. The city says cones will remain in place in the center lane for a week as drivers get used to the change.

Due to the change, the Post Office tells the city they'll be moving some of their boxes from Harrison to 2nd Street so drivers will still be able to drop off their mail from the driver's side.

The city says the change cost around $11,500 to complete.
