Sugar Ray Leonard speaks for the Boys & Girls Club of Elkhart

Sugar Ray Leonard was speaking at a private event at the Lerner Theatre tonight in Elkhart.  FOX 28's Allison Hayes caught up with one of the most famous boxers of all-time to find out why he was in Northern Indiana.

"I'm so happy to be here, with the Boys and Girls Club because I'm a by-product of the Boys and Girls Club.  It made me into the person I am today.  I say kudos to a wonderful program association and I will always do what I can to give back to the Boys and Girls Club," Sugar Ray Leonard said.

Sugar Ray says his boxing career actually started at the Boys and Girls Club, where he picked up his first pair of gloves as a kid.  He went on to win 6 Championships and an Olympic gold medal.

After the speech, Sugar Ray took pictures and signed autographs with the fans.
