MACOG responds to shut down of Heart City Rider, Goshen Transit Service

Posted:

The Michiana Area Council of Governments has responded to Thursday's announcement by Yellow Cab of Elkhart County that they are shutting down their Goshen Transit Service and Heart City Rider services.

Yellow Cab of Elkhart County was contracted by MACOG to provide the service, but says the group wasn't helping them foot enough of the bill.

In a release, MACOG says they will provide comparable paratransit service to Americans with Disabilities Act riders who are unable to ride the bus.

MACOG says those in need of service should call 574-674-8894 between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. Monday through Friday to schedule a ride. ADA ride services will be available the same hours the Interurban Trolley operates, 5:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Monday through Friday and 5:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Saturday.
