Pilot not injured in ultralight plane crash-landing in Berrien County


The Berrien County Sheriff's Office responded to the crash in Berrien Township around 9:30 Sunday morning.

Police say Brian Bowen of Niles was flying a small ultralight plane and crashed into a wooded field near a home in the 10,000 block of Old US 31 in Berrien Springs.

The Sheriff's Department says Bowen had left from the Niles airport and was circling to return to the airport when the plane engine stopped.

Bowen's then crash landed into the field.

The plane was moderately damaged. Bowen, however was not injured.
