Posted:

The St. Joseph County Sheriff's Department has released the names of three people who died in a crash on near Baughman Court Sunday afternoon.

Police said they received a call about a multiple vehicle crash just before 2 p.m. Sunday.

Police say a minivan driven by a 17-year-old from  South Bend crossed the center line and hit an SUV. All three people in the SUV, 59-year-old Robert Hillers, his wife, 54-year-old Judith Chillers, and cousin, 56-year-old Janice Cash, were killed. All three are from South Bend.

A pick-up truck also hit the SUV from behind. The driver of that vehicle was not hurt.

Witnesses told police the minivan was speeding and weaving in and out of traffic before the crash. The driver was treated at a South Bend hospital for injuries.

Police do not think drugs or alcohol were a factor in the crash, though all drivers involved are being tested, a standard procedure in fatal crashes.
